(45) The Vampire Pigeons

(45) The Vampire Pigeons

A Poem by Chris Smith Welshpoetcs

Come and hide from them tonight
They come for your blood, keep out of sight
They coming looking for victims, seeking a neck
They will find you and feed when they peck

The vampire pigeons are going coo coo coo
The vampire pigeons are coming after you

Oh no, be so quiet, because they are here
I can see them bobbing and I feel fear
Blood red feathers and they show their crest
They are here to feed then escape to the nest

The vampire pigeons are going coo coo coo
The vampire pigeons are coming after you

What can we do? there is no where to go
Can anything ever stop this evil foe
But at last we are safe, I never thought of that
They are fleeing, they are running from the cat

The vampire pigeons are going coo coo coo
The vampire pigeons are coming after you

If pigeons became soldiers for the Vampires. We would be in big trouble. A lot of pigeons in this world. A fun poem to read. I lived in Detroit as a kid. There are a million pigeons in the city limits. Eat anything they can find and can spread sickness. A very good ending to a very good poem.

several things i would change to make the flow of the rythym go smoother: oh no, be(no so) quiet .. i feel THE fear .... then FLEE to THEIR nest... they MIGHT be fleeing, (no they are) running from A cat
and maybe only 2 coos
the overall beauty of the poem is somewhat shadowed by the choppiness of the flow the rythym but is overall very well written and portrayed well done

Sorry but this made laugh, not sure if it was meant to. lol But I found this piece humorous, Its catchy and I think it would defiantly scared people more now lol, as i know some people have a phobia of them. I use to confused my son when we saw a pigeon, i say it is a duck. Only because I mistakenly said duck instead of pigeon before lol
Great piece though... the vampire pigeons are going coo coo coo.. love it!

*laughs* what a fun and joyful (yet darkly so) poem to read. We call pigeons City Chickens around here, but the thought of them being vampiric pigeons.. what a wonderful concept. You do write about the strangest, yet most wonderous of things, Chris. Great Job!

Thank goodness the cat saved us! This is a bit absurd, but I like absurdity. A funny poem, Chris.
