(16) No Redemption

(16) No Redemption

A Poem by Chris Smith Welshpoetcs

Dark rain falls tonight

On a skin, cold as ice

Giving a chill to embrace

Shrunken eyes hide from light

With only the dead to entice

Forgotten dreams of a lovers face

The comfort is the grave

Within the shadows of rust

Building up to evils desire

A body no one can save

Left in hell like lust

No redemption for the vampire

Long forgotten, that human feeling

Of what love once felt like

With only tears of blood to cry

Red thirst, of this life stealing

Condemned to feel that spike

When an immortal can die

Like most monsters, the vampire is born of victimhood. Fortunately, not all victims become monsters; some become monster-hunters. In any event, we are always dealing with types of victim. Tracing back, could we eventually find the first, true, wholly depraved, totally guilty and completely irredeemable Monster--The Evil Introducer of It All? There are those who believe so.
Sorry to wander into wondering, Chris--your perceptive poem nudged me along. Excellent work.

interesting opening line "dark rain" it feels heavy and you have assigned a color to the transparent drop....

lots of imagery and thought provoking lines - you do this throughout...

questioning every meaning "immortal can die"
