Beautiful Words

Beautiful Words

A Chapter by Chris Smith Welshpoetcs

Holly McHagan was bored, she decided to check her e-mails and logged onto her laptop and opened up her mail.

The usual spam greeted her as always, she scrolled down and casually glanced the messages.

Did she want a credit card?, did she want to join a dating site?, even an offer to buy viagra which made her laugh.

It was the normal rubbish, but then, one email caught her eye and she had to open it.

It was an invitation to join a site called "Beautiful Words" and to read some of the latest poems and stories by various writers and to make new friends.

Holly did dabble in writing her own poetry and was a bit nervous in sharing it, maybe this site would help her find the courage.

Holly was tempted to see what would happen so found herself joining, what would she find there?

Holly logged on with the user name of "Maiden" and then the password of "Roadrunner", she added her e-mail address and was told "her profile is under moderation and to wait for 24 hours".

She sighed, everything seemed to keep you waiting these days.

She had to leave for work, she was employed as a receptionist at a busy doctors surgery in County Cork.

A quick breakfast of a piece of toast and a glass of orange juice and she was on her way.

A ten minute drive in her Renault Clio and she was ready to begin work.

The day passed by slowly, patients with bad backs, runny noses, sore throats and numerous complaints of migraine.

She was glad to at last be able to drive home, back to her lonely abode where there had been way too many broken hearts.

She needed a shower and the warm water eased the stress of the day from her weary body.

A light meal of chicken pasta and she was ready for an early night.

The morning seemed to arrive too quick and she had to log on to discover what the site "Beautiful Words" had in store for her.
