My heart doesn't play by the rules

It pretends to love and gets the best of fools

It never wants to hold on too tight

because that would mean it would have to fight

to not get broken again.

I never used to be this way

oh I would love so recklessly 

give everything I had just to please

but when push came so shove 

I would always be the one begging on my knees.

Somewhere deep inside I know

I'm going to have to let go

of all the pain in the past

but baby please just take it slow

lets not go too fast

because I don't think I could bare

my heart ever getting broken again.
