A Place of FearA Poem by Amber Weldon
A heaviness clouds my mind
my heart shivers with anticipation the inability to foresee what is to come has been making me crazy A flame on a match the sweet toxin of cigarette smoke fills my lungs with a calmness leaving the worst kind of perfume There is no origin for this feeling no way to ease it for how could I fix it? if it is to fear nothing Those with faith promise immortality in the after life But what is the point of living in the now if we are all waiting to die so eager to live a life worthy of such a vague heaven Living morally is wonderful but should we not give just to give not because we are afraid of damnation? wouldn't it be lovely if we were kind from a place of love in our hearts not from a place of fear Perhaps this is what God intended maybe not either way It is how I will choose to live I can't see the future for good reason I wouldn't be able to live for today.
