Chapter 4

the story

A man about the same age as Ruth grabs her and says “she’s not going to hunt the wolf with you because I won’t let her!”

“Mind your own business James!” The man said trying to grab Ruth from James’s hand. James tries to take Ruth away when you hear a big gun shot.

“Stop it James and Milton” A man with a gun comes crying out.

“He tried to make this girl fight the wolf,” James replies showing Ruth to him.

“No, I was just asking!” Milton tells him. The man is looking at Milton and James and finally says

“James, get her out of the way I have to talk to Milton.” James not letting go, drags Ruth to her house and asks her name.

“My name is Ruth, but what was that all about?” She replies she now James has this weird, sad look on his face.

“Well Ruth, I don’t think I can tell you that’s up to your dad, but weather you know or not you’ll find out.” James says looking at her with sad puppy dog eyes. “See you around,” he says walking off.

Later that night her father says “Ruth there are two reasons we came here, one is to get you married to the chiefs son and the other is because of your mother…..”

“What about her?” Ruth asks

“Well, she was meant to become one of the three witches that protect the town.” He says looking at her “so, you will become one of the three witches instead. Which means tomorrow you will have to see the three witches to begin training.”
