As I Fall Asleep

As I Fall Asleep

A Poem by weavin

You may find this impolite
You may find this reprehensible
You may find yourself thinking the same thing
Or you may not want to think of it at all

But every night
as I fall asleep
I wish that you were by my side

I wish that you would wrap your arms around me
Kiss my face and whisper that you love me

My dreams have become accustom to your presence
And move through the series of events naturally
As if they have no acknowledgement
Of the butterflies in my soul

When I wake up
I continue to find my self cold
The absence of your body is unmistakable

I move through the day like every other day
Knowing there is something missing

The day I have you by my side
Morning through night

That will be the day my heart finally begins to smile again
