(The Wings of a Fly)

Buzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz Zap

in the corner of my eye,

I see a fly, fly, buzzing by,

near to my eye, making me sigh
as it flies by, wings rushing towards the sky,
flying away from my eye,

soaring high for a fly

why oh why does it want to die,
flying so high in the sky,
does it cry for the other fly

that did die when it flew into my eye

I swatted that little black fly,

who flew in my eye,
that did defy and deny

her right to fly by buzzing by my eye,
causing the little fly to die,

never saying good-bye to you who flies

so high away from my eye towards the sky
crying for the little fly, who in suicide,

succeeded in her wish to die,
by flying in my eye

I sigh from the sty that's in my eye
from that fly who flew in my eye,
wondering why she wanted to die,
never hearing her cry,

for it was you that made her want to die,

by seeing through your lie

about an affair with another fly,

leaving her high and dry
to explode and die, in my teary eye

who do you cry for as you fly

towards the sky away from my accusing eye,

for your sin of deceit and lust

where my eye holds her remaining dust,
for it was not I who made her die,

it was you who led her in my eye,

you who were once a mighty fly,
turn away from the sky,

set your wings on downward path,
cleanse yourself from damnation's wrath,

now its time for you to die,

fly oh fly in my other eye,

I weep

as I wait for your reply

Buzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz plop

The Reply

my oh my why oh why where oh where do I die
do I fly high in the sky and fly till I die
or fly down to the ground and dive in your eye

I wobble

I wiggle

I tingle

I fizzle

my tired wings do shiver and shake
from this decision that you ask me to make

what's it to you in what I do
am I not just a pesky pest to you
a lowly bug of no significance
absent of any beneficence
what does it matter to you in how I die
high in the sky or in your eye
who are you to offer me  salvation's path

when all I've known was your hellish wrath
but before I go to die
either in your eye or in the sky
it was she not I
who deceived you with her lie

Oh you silly fly you oddly odd fly
you wicked and spirited godly gadfly
it was you not I
who had an affair with another fly
right before my eye
to show me what we had together
was one self deluding lie
your fickle heart being now the property

of that other fly

I raged

I fumed

anger sealed my doom

I spittled and spit
my head exploded and split
in my altered state all I felt was hate
only in death will my revenge abate
not He only I would be your heartfelt mate
alas! alas! the rest was left to fate
leaving me to cry as you flew in the eye
to die  to empty yourself to Him
wallowing together in sin in the eternal dim

I stumble

I crumble

I fumble

I tumble

all alone I fly grimy and naked

throw those stones and bones pebbles and rocks

there’s a hole in my soul all twisted in knots

I’ve been forsaken betrayed afraid and outplayed

all that is left of me  is long ago dead
please let me  rest a while as I lay  on your head

Author's Note

Robert Francis Callaci
Mono-rhyme is a poem in which all the lines have the same end rhyme.

This is a great style to learn the basics of rhyming. I call this style a vowel poem.

A E I O U pick the vowel that will dictate the sound of your poem .

Warning: this style is quite grating and to some extremely annoying and noisy

For my example I chose the( I) sound- This poem has annoyed quite a few readers but I love it Its a dizzy little poem.

I also have the Flies Reply on here as well- its sort of a variation-I play with the same sound but mix it up and use other rhyme schemes- this would be considered free verse. This one is also annoying but less grating on the nerves-

Please don't throw up after reading buzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Bob,
this poem wont make me throw up or get dizzy. I found it very unusual to say the least. Makes me wonder, if somehow you are not describing an incident that happened in your own life and put it in to this unusual poem. nevertheless, i did enjoy it. Good writing.
