The Devils Notebook

The Devils Notebook

A Poem by Robert Francis Callaci
"

A fantasy of apocalyptic dimensions...

"

In the war between the angels

a third of them so did fall

A significant minority who tried

to undo God’s authority

Freedom comes with a terrible price

God is good

The Devil is Evil

So says the bible

So say we all

Poor Adam - a hapless lovesick victim

It’s Eve who brought down “The Fall”

So says the bible

So say most all

War is essential

It’s so existential

So says the bible

It’s part of its core

A religious by-law

Prophets, fakers, sinners and saints

soldiers, warrior priests and demon beasts

fight pray kneel slash and slay

all through the ages - even till this day

about which way to follow the bible preaching’s

its sacred and holy teachings

For it is infallible, undisputable and irrefutable

or at least that’s what some say

right up to this very modern day

God is just

The Devil corrupt

So says the bible

So say we all

Forty days and forty nights

did the rain and thunder rage.

All that was, was no more,

for God was unhappy with His

creation. The innocent as well as the

damned were shown oblivion. In

His mercy he spared the drone Noah

and his family and a New world was born.

God is good

God is Just

So says the bible

So say the sheep and the wolves

Subjugation comes to those who prefer to remain asleep

for some reason couldn't get out of my mind the words of the song whilst reading this:

Jesus loves me yes I know
for the bible tells me so....

Nice piece plenty of room for interpretation

lol...So say we all!
Scary! Aside from the last line, this could be a responsive reading at a local church. I don't think anyone would bat an eye. Just say whay they say. Do what they say to do. Be what the words tell you to be . . .

Spirituality is key,
Religion is dangerous.
So says the Freder.
So say the few sane people I've met.

Good piece. A solid polemical poem!

Selah!

oblivion is exactly what i stand for
if thou wert asleep, they could dream the obvious
that god is good
the devil is sin
so say us all
so say the saints and the tyrants
god bless us all to hope we overcome these speculations amazing truly

Reminds me of a book I read years ago, titled The silence in Heaven. Book gets a little off subject at times but sticks to its story of fallen angels and their eternal search for their brethren.

Poem reads like a sermon read through bullhorn. And sometimes that's what it takes to wake the dead or those pretending to be dead out of fear.

Great last line. Grounds everything stated before it.

Technically I loved this Bob...you are soo good in this genere~...can't be matched!
As for the content....well.....you know me beliefs...however, I am not one of the sheep being led to slaughter though...I rebel against some of the modern interpretations and man made edicts!

Although I would not choose abortion for myself...I honor the right o woman to choose for herself!
I pick and choose what makes me feel close to God...not man's vanity in power!

Great work!

Thank you all for taking the time to read and comment on this piece- It's much appreciated. This piece is a part of a series on religious interpretations. In these series I tend to hit the reader over the head(melodramatic tones) rather then use a subtle brush. Like Tina said this is a vast site and I probably we'll be here for a while. I do intend showing some of my tapestry chapters and other related stuff soon. By doing this it gets me jump started to write my snapshots and tapestry . I'm in the middle of 33 in tangled and see an end game in sight. I'll be posting some of my past work but with revisions and some new. It's great to be here-one hell of a cafe...

I love Viper's interpretation of "god is just the devil corrupt" - mmm such a view I would not have found by myself.

I cannot begin to express what a pure delight it is to find myself back in the worlds you create for me Bob - Christmas was clearly late.

Will you place the entire Tapestry here? Will I see another chapter soon? Was it 31 or 32 that I last read... damn I feel quite excitable at the prospect of more from you now that I have had this taster, this memory of how I feel when I read you.

Namaste,
Tina x

Fascinating set of verses, Bob. Provocative stuff.

My favourite:

`God is just
The Devil corrupt
So says the bible
So say we all`

I like this either way I read it. As, `God is just (and) the devil corrupt`or `God is just the Devil corrupt`. That kind of ambiguity, laced through this poem like arsenic, brought a smile to my face.

Ah, the wolves and the sheep, co-creating their own destruction unawares!
