The Bane of Cain

 

The first is forever cursed to

lurk in the shadows, to kill and terrorize

sinners and saints.

He prays to be released from

the futility of preying upon

the mundane

and foolish lives that humans live.

Death is his only solace and refuge.

 

But death will never come due to his crime

of fratricide and the audacity of killing God’s

favored child. Cursed to forever thirst for blood and

live the life of a vampiric parasite, he’s the first of the brood,

cursed with the Mark of Cain.

 

Abandoned by God and embraced by the devil

leaves Cain with bitter tears at the absurdity of it all.

For they are both one and the same, a schizophrenic singularity,

playing the game ‘Now you See me, Now, you don’t’.

 

He forever walks alone in darkness,

cursing the day that Adam and Eve gave him breath…
