Once upon a Butterfly

Once upon a Butterfly

A Chapter by Robert Francis Callaci
"

I'm a butterfly dreaming that I'm a man or is the the other way around...

"

Once Upon a Butterfly

I flitter and flutter all day long while I sing the song of life. The few

precious days that I have to enjoy the wind beneath my wings,

gives me no time to wallow in that chaotic foolishness that brings on

all that stress and strife. I wander the skies and partake of the nectar

that nature provides. The life of a butterfly is a joyous affair...

I find myself getting weary and lay upon a golden leaf. The world of

dreams beckons me when the sun sets and the moon rises. Sleep

overtakes me and a different reality bears itself witness.

I dream that I’m a man chopping wood in a desert during a sandstorm.

I hear a muffled sound; I put down my ax to investigate, and to my

surprise, I happen upon a maniacal rabbit howling at the moon. I pick

her up by its ears, shake her a few times, put its feet back on the ground,

and howl along beside her.

I wake up! And I’m once again a butterfly flittering and fluttering all day

long, singing my songs, and drinking up life’s ambrosia. A butterfly’s

dreams are more than what they appear to be, but less than the sum

of what makes me, ME...
