Restless Nights

Restless Nights

A Story by REL
"

A short story

"

I can’t sleep. I poke my nose out from under my covers, and see the green power light on my printer. From across the room, I hear my sister’s faint breathing. A quick glance at the clock tells me the time.

It’s 1:25am.

I quietly pull my covers off, and set my feet gently on the floor. I reach for my laptop that is on the desk beside my bed.

It’s 1:26.

I do a hopping-leaping dancing motion across my room so that I avoid the squeaky parts of the floor, and move out into the hall way.

It’s 1:27.

Blinded by the nightlight, I squint as I make my way down the hall. I pet the now awake dog as I start to head down stairs.

It’s 1:28.

As I reach the landing, I get a brilliant story idea and set myself up on the couch with my computer.

It’s 1:29.

I close my eyes to refocus the idea, and grasp the concepts as they float around in my mind. I open my eyes to begin typing…

It’s 9:47

oh yes thats quite nice ,the way like a call pulls you out of bed in the dark, and walk down ,ponder a little then open your eyes and start to type ,its very thoughtful nice and exciting ,i liked it ,it happened to me a lot except when i awake and try to head to the computer ,most of the time ,there is no light ,by the way we have light power only few hours a day,so instead i go back to bed,and say oh forget it...

It's 12.16 a.m

it's a nice change from the usual emotion filled heart felt things most people, including myself, write..i liked that it was a mere description without any need to state why you were awake at such an hour in the first place
And somehow it seemed almost rhythmic with the insertion of time interspersed with your actions

It's 12.20 a.m
:)

That's quite funny...and so true: we can't sleep until the moment we need/want to be awake.
I like the way you paced it out with the time and little actions like patting the dog.
Good write. Thanks for sharing it with us.
