Between Life and Death

Between Life and Death

A Poem by Anne Lyons
"

ICU

"

I enjoy the thrill; the rush of what

each minute could bring.

And in the midst of pain and suffering,

I find myself fully engaged in the

process that accompanies life

and then, death.

It's difficult, but to save

a life, to bring them comfort,

peace, and happiness before

that time comes gives me

 such a high. I don't know

why anyone does drugs.

You written this with a lot of energy, momentum, which is very fitting given the subject matter and content. The shortness of the line 'and then, death' also works very well, it's blunt, hard, despite your/the narrative voice's lust for life you/they are under no illusions. Great stuff, keep it up!
