I'm Happier Here

I'm Happier Here

A Poem by Anne Lyons

When I finally released

the feeling I held so deep,

your reaction tied my stomach

in knots.

I no longer could drag you

in like this would continue

on like some journey that

would soon be an adventure.

The truth is you and I may

understand each other

better than most,

but it's still not enough

to draw me in.

Simply because I find

myself happy and

comfortable in this

place. Where I'm

alone and my mind

is at peace; not circling

around feelings that will

soon come to pass.

It's the pleasure of being

able to do what you

want, when you want

to do it.

I don't want to escape this

feeling of belonging

only to myself,

while dabbling in

the occasional

enjoyment I find

in life.

I saved you in the

long run.

Very well written and conveyed. I like those lines the most...:).................
