Safe Haven

Safe Haven

A Poem by Anne Lyons

When my mind is engaged

in critically examined,

rational beliefs

about fundamental

truths, I am reminded

of the fondness I have for

wisdom and knowledge.

Even if it's just for a brief

moment.

When I'm deep in

thought I find a

detachment from reality,

to the extent that it's

an addiction that my

brain must feed on.

It's my safe haven

when the world around

me becomes intolerable .

And each time that I find myself

in this state, I become less

inclined in succumbing to

the state of emotion.

There is a musical quality here and I love it for it makes the piece 'sound' out stronger to me. A beautiful piece
