Camping in the Woods

Camping in the Woods

A Poem by Anne Lyons
"

>>=C=C=> Adventures

"

Young at heart

searching for the

next adventure

to write about.

Taking two tarnished

and dim lanterns

into the cryptic woods

at the hour of midnight.

Hearts pounding to the

beat of our inner drum,

knees shaking, we've

lost all sense of control.

Heat perspiring from

our bodies as it

cascades gradually

to hidden places.

Dogs howling, trying

to hunt down their

next meal.

Trees crackling against

the movement of

the screaming wind,

and us, only teenagers,

took off running till the

air in our lungs went dry.

This is a wonderful write on your sylvan adventure.
It appears a real experience.

Great write, the woods can be quite scary, especially at night. You described that perfectly in your poem.
Well done :)
