Dreaming of Summer

Dreaming of Summer

A Poem by P.S. Buford III
"

...seasonal ish...bleh.

"

I thought Spring would breathe new life

Instead it chokes the remnants of

old stagnant air from my lungs with

the powder brought from natures rebirth

Winter was harsh enough with its

cold truths on frigid winds

whipping against tear-streaked skin

as my heart & i fought to stay warm

Fall whispered promises that

the changing weather would undermine

and as the leaves sold their verdant shades

her heart traded loyalties for fools gold

So now I look forwards to the light

hoping the sun can reignite a fire for life

in a soul that's been battered by the seasons

patiently waiting for the kiss of Summer.

Love the line...her heart traded loyalties for fools gold. Lots of lovely metaphors really. The only suggestion I could give is to play around with how it looks on the page.

Nice write. Often people find themselves hoping for changes when their surroundings change, but deep cuts don't heal with a warmer breathe. Very inspirational piece, can't wait to read more of your works.
