Raven Woman

Raven Woman

A Poem by Brandon S. Whitten
"

Waya is not alone

"

I looked closely at the engravings

Strangely I remembered seeing them before

Without thinking, I spoke a tongue

I didn't know, as I read the first stone facing east

A gust of wind swirled within the circle

And to my surprise a woman was standing by my side

She had long black hair and wore a raven headdress

Nothing more, I was speechless

We did communicate telepathically

She said she had been waiting for me

In over a millennium I am the first to not just read

But translate what is on the stones

I don't know how I know, I said

It's in your blood memory, she replied

I tried to wrap my mind around it

Then she handed me a pipe to smoke

She said, Here smoke this and you will awaken

What is it that I'm smoking? I asked

It is cannabis, she said

This will open doors of perception as well
