The Crow

The Crow

A Poem by Brandon S. Whitten
"

Waya wakes from slumber to the caw of a crow.

"
The caw of a crow awakens Waya
Not realizing he fell asleep
Opening his dog-tired eyes
He sees the crow perched on a branch
Again the crow speaks, but this time
Waya understands what she is communicating
The crow wants to show him a place
Deep in the forest, the crow spreads her wings
Taking off he follows her down a hill
Through the thick brush he serpentines
While he tries to keep up with her in flight
Until they approach massive stones arranged in a circle
He was amazed at the energy he felt upon entering the sacred
Turning around clockwise he noticed the engravings
Much like hieroglyphs on an Egyptian tomb
It was purely magical
