The invisible friend

The invisible friend

A Poem by Eri

I'm the invisible friend.
Always there to talk to,
Someone who will walk through
all the darkness with you.
But since you do not see me,
you don't need to ask me
how I feel.
You can ignore me,
as long as you don't need me.
But when you need me,
I'm there by your side,
cause I'm your friend.
Your invisible friend.

I will not try to read into this, but just tell you where I go with this piece and I love it. I have certain brain function that my daughter has also and she talks of the noise. Her name for the information overload coming into our brains second by millisecond.

For some it is an overpowering control of their mind. For me it multi-tasking and hyper speed. I just have lots of friends in my mind, as we all do at different levels. It just matters if you're in control or the invisible friend. I prefer that I am in control.

Sorry, just having some fun. Great work. And apparently I liked it. When I get on my soapbox I was moved in someway by the piece.

Excellent title - such a sad tale. Is real friendship so one-sided? Or is this poem describing it a form of dependency meeting a form of desperation. Friends are there for each other - care about each other - don't use each other when it suits them.
