I Wish for Simple Contentment

I Wish for Simple Contentment

A Poem by ryderflyte

Like Marlowe’s Shepherd, strew roses upon the lush, green earth.

I will love you Hard and Tight

Upon this makeshift marital bed

All I want is for you to want

Me.

When I am aged

Happy maybe?

You, a hero, but no Odysseus

Slurp wine in expensive glasses

As I grip the stem, a bloody river slides down my throat

Red and raw, the uvula is a stationary boat,

bobbing in a sea of saliva and tears.

No desire to draw upon myself,
to draw blood from myself.
I will be happy

Maybe?
