The Puppet

The Puppet

A Poem by Marissa Torres

Your name.

It haunts me.

It grips around my neck like a noose.

I can't breathe.

I can feel your hands around my body.

I am frozen in fear.

I cry for help.

You whisper into my ear that there is no one to save me.

No one is on their way.

I fought.

And I fought.

I hated myself in the end.

In the end I gave you all of the power.

You control my mind.

You control my thoughts.

I am your puppet.

But you will never be my master.
