Today is the first day of living,

Today I breathed
without your hands
around my neck.

Today I put a smile
on that wasn't
fake.

Today I told someone
"I'm good"
and it wasn't a
lie.

Today I made
my own decisions,
I'm on the road to
becoming my own
person.

Today I walked
without you weighing me
down.

Today I ate
without your criticism
whispering in my
ear.

Today I stood up
against what was wrong
even though, I was standing
alone.

Today I looked at
my scars as 
beautiful flaws.

Today I looked in the mirror
and thought,
"I don't need to change a thing."

Today is the first day of
life.

This is a brilliant poem. I wish more people had your understanding of what it takes to be your own conplete person. "When you are green, you are growing; when you are ripe, you are rotting." Keep growing!

As to grammar, in the line "I stood up," you don't really need the "up" That is absolutely the only thing I could find.
