Waves

Waves

A Poem by watch_the_world

I often think of my childhood in waves.
It comes and goes just like the tide.

I often feel the absence,
empty feeling in the pit of my stomach
I felt when you left.

I often feel the pain
of the knife you left in my heart,
when you said you were never coming back.

I often feel the frustration
of learning to grow up on my own,
the frustration of fending for myself in the cruel world.

I often feel the loneliness
that consumed my emotions when you left.

You are just like the tide.
Memories of you flood my brain
for a while then flood right back out
taking a little piece of me with you everytime.

"Taking a little piece of me with you every time"..............I really like how you compared this to the tide. I could totally visualize the movement of the tides and a little bit more emptiness each time. Good job!
