You and Me

You and Me

A Poem by Meredithe
"

I wrote this for the only person I have ever loved.

"

I know you, and you know me,

We are best friends you see.

I know that won’t change, we already tried.

But I can’t help but wonder; why exactly did you leave my side?

Was it something I did or said?

If I were just a bit different, would you not have left me for dead?

I see you, and you see me,

I long for you, can’t you see?

When you are around, my chest aches

You tell me about others, and my heart, it breaks

I’m in love with you and you are blind,

I can’t push you to the back of my mind.

I hear you, and you hear me,

I’d die for you, for free.

All you have to do is ask, and it’s yours.

For you I’d fight countless wars.

If you would only just come back,

My world will no longer be pitch black…

sad but sweet. the emotions are right there for the world to see in a work like this. they rhyme also just adds to the effect very well. the flow is near perfectly matched. the comparisons as well are very good and used in the right places. good job.
