Ch. 7 Meeting my boyfriend

The next day, I began texting Richie. I was trying to find a way for him to meet my family over the weekend. Friday night I'd broke the news to my mom that I had a boyfriend. She was excited and asked me all sorts of things about him. 

The next day, my mom took me to the mall. I texted Richie to ask what he was up to on the way there. He replied that he going to be eating lunch at the mall with his bestfriend, Julian. Instantly I asked him which mall he was at. He replied, and I was delighted to know, he was at the same mall my mom and I were headed to!

After shopping for about 30 minutes, my mom and I headed to the foodcourt. We squinted as we searched for him. The description I gave my mom aided her in helping look for Richie, and she was the one who discovered him first. 
 
Upon spotting him, he was grinning and laughing. He must have been watching us look like fools as we searched for him. As we approached the table, he stood up. I gave him a big hug and kissed him.  My mom and I sat at the table and chatted with Richie and Julian for about ten minutes. After some small talk, my mom got up and went to get me a taco from the Taco Bell.

I buisied myself by playing with Richie's dog tags that hung from his neck as we all talked. He offerred to let me wear them, took them off and put them around my neck. I felt so happy that he'd given them to me to wear, even if it were only for a few minutes.  

After talking for a few minutes, my mom arrived with the taco, and joined in our conversation. After about ten minutes, they had to leave; Julian's father had arrived to pick them up. We said our goodbyes, then my mother and I gossiped about the encounter. "He seems nice" she said, "I really like his friend though, was it 'Julian'? He's funny!" I was glad that she approved of our relationship, and even happier that they both shared a love for playing soccer.
