Ch. 2 Surviving the new school

Ch. 2 Surviving the new school

A Chapter by warriorKat

The big day arrived, my first day at my new school. I felt very out of place as I walked into my new homeroom. Everyone froze and stared as I entered the class. I avoided their gazes and kept mine glued to the teacher as I handed her my schedule. She looked it over and then motioned to an empty seat for me to sit in.

By the end of homeroom I'd re-met two people. One girl named Brooke from back in 5th grade and a boy named Ferry from 8th grade. I felt slightly better, and I hoped throughout the day I'd meet more people from my past.

1st period, Art. 2nd period, Spanish. 3rd period, Biology. 4th period, English. 5th period, Lunch. 6th period, Creative Writing. 7th period, Algebra 2. 8th period, Semantics and Logic. I texted Jessica my schedule. She and I had no classes together. I was immediatly unnerved again. Would this discomfort end?

I was relieved to figure out in my Art class, one of Jessica's close friends sat next to me. She was a bit quiet but we got along well despite that. That day, she told me all about how she had a pet horse named Bailey.

Spanish was different, I knew no one in the class. The teacher instructed me to sit right in front of his desk. Within minutes of the tardy bell sounding, kids in my class had already taken a notice of my presence. "Mr.Ellerman, who's the new girl!?" Shouted a loud voice from the back of the room. Our teacher didn't respond. "Hey girl...hey girl, what's your name?" asked the boy.   I turned around slowly to answer him. "Kristalyn..." I mumbled shyly before turning back around. "Nice, what school you came from?" he asked. I turned back around again. "Hillsborough." I replied. That was the end of the dialogue I had with that boy. Atleast until I got to 4th period when he discovered I sat behind him. "Heyyy, you again!" He exclaimed. "I'm Sebastian by the way." I smiled briefly at him, not really knowing what else to do.

Sebastian...I wondered if this was the same one Jessica said she liked. I texted her. She had me describe him, and it turned out it was not the same Sebastian.

In 4th period, I was happy to have re-met a girl from elementary school named Jenelle. Her hair was dyed hot pink and black, she wore neon skinny jeans with a baggy t-shirt. She invited me to sit with her at lunch since I had no friends that I knew of in the same lunch as I. I accepted her offer happily.

Lunch was an odd experience. Jenelle hung out with all the people who skated, smoked, and drank. Not my kinda crowd, but it would do for now.

By the fourth day, I'd found a slightly more suitable crowd. They sat on a small stage, outside. Four boys and one girl. One boy named Eric was a lot like me. He let me listen to his mp3 player and I discovered we liked some of the same music.

Another boy there was really nice, but he didn't directly talk to me much. His name was Anthony. One day, he didn't want his lunch and scooted the tray toward me. " Want it?" he asked. "No thanks" I replied quietly. "What's your name any way?" He asked curiously. The others looked up.   The most hyperactive of the boys, named Cody, nudged my shoe. "Yea, you never told us! What's your name, sexy!?" I avoided his gaze. " Kristalyn" I replied. "Nice! Haha you a freshman?" Cody asked. I shook my head yes. "I'm a sophomore." He scooted closer to me. "Watcha workin on?" He asked. "My spanish homework" I replied. Cody then snatched my workbook away from me. "Stop being so quiet." he said. "Ok, as soon as I'm done I'll talk" I responded. It wasn't good enough for Cody. He took hold of my left Vans shoe, and began to drag me accross the stage as he tried to get it off my foot. I started screaming and held my skinny jeans up as I was dragged so my butt wouldn't show. Eric came behind me and grabbed my arm. I thrashed about, punching Eric in the balls by mistake as I did so, and I'd managed to get my foot free from Cody. However, he still had my shoe.

He ran accross the grass and placed my shoe on the furthest windowsill. I got up and began demanding he go back and get it then give it to me. He refused. Eric came up behind me, picked me up and carried me accross wet grass to retrieve my shoe. I thanked him, and marched over to Cody so I could give him a little beating for the stunt he pulled. I'd only landed one slap before he grabbed me, and flung me over one shoulder. I groaned in an annoyed manner. That was when both Anthony and Eric came to my rescue. Anthony was on the wrestling team for Chamberlain, he came up behind Cody and held onto him as Eric pried me away from his arms. They'd saved me from getting put into the nearby trashcan. I hugged them both to show my thanks. I felt safe with my two new friends by my side.
