MagpieA Poem by Luke WapelhorstAbout loneliness
Hear that soft whisper of the magpie;
The wind pulls flowers briskly to the east; His wings flap giving out a cry; Over a lavender field, he knows only himself; Perched on top of a lonely pine, He thrusts himself to the stars, and is engulfed into the black sky; Over a lavender field, he knows only himself; Silhouettes guide him above the trees; His tiny heart is a drummer-less wave, and he falls like ash in the breeze; Past the branches, he tumbles to earth; Now his broken wing complements his heart; On a lavender field, he knows only himself; The darkness pushes his eyes shut, and he slowly breathes himself away; He dreams of a call and flowing feathers, A wing draping over him near amber eyes; Seemingly too real, he slowly wakes; On a lavender field, he knows only love. © 2013 Luke Wapelhorst |
