Why I CriedA Poem by Wandering BardThe Aftermath of a terrible battle is always heart-wrenching...
Soldiers strewn about, blood gushing from fresh wounds, eyes glazed over in the light of dawn. “It’s going to be a crazy time.” Last breaths, last chance, last hope. “When will it end general?” Pure darkness, light ever fading, I won’t die. “It won’t boy.” Death is imminent, pain is stopping, life is slipping away. “But why general? Why?” Family lost, friendships brought to an end, children without a father. “Both sides are figuring the other will just give up, and soon, and the war done in weeks, and us all home.” Women mourning, children sobbing, men silently crying. “Well that’s not how it’s going to be boy. And maybe that’s why I cried.”
