I am Afraid

I am Afraid

A Poem by Wandering Bard
"

The Civil War is coming, and this boy wears a mask. I'll let you guess what kind.

"

I am ecstatic at the blood which is to come

and curious to know more.

I am up for a battle

and ready for sure victory.

I am a man.

I am confident in my tasks

and determined to complete them.

I am the fields which I tend

and also the hoe.

I am adamant.

I am free from the bonds of boyhood

and free from those who oppose me.

I am a man who stood for what was right

and still stands now.

I am surmounting all.

I am proud of my work,

and the fields I’ve tilled.

I am triumphant over the war

and the blood shed.

I Am Afraid.

I love poetry like this...cross between being proud of who and what you are..what you have done, and yet, still afraid!!! Great work, I agree!!

i enjoyed your writing couched in poetic prose. I am an avowed formalist I think the disciple of fixed form helps me to choose each word carefully yo gain the full impact
Your word usage is excellent but your writing lacks the essential meter which differntiates poetry from prose But keep on writing you have the ability just need polishing up a bit ivor

Interesting. Fairly standard style of free form prose style, using the final line as a sort of "explaination". Fairly good overall, and sinde you say not your best, I look forward to seeing other works posted.
