I am AfraidA Poem by Wandering BardThe Civil War is coming, and this boy wears a mask. I'll let you guess what kind.I am ecstatic at the blood which is to come and curious to know more. I am up for a battle and ready for sure victory. I am a man. I am confident in my tasks and determined to complete them. I am the fields which I tend and also the hoe. I am adamant. I am free from the bonds of boyhood and free from those who oppose me. I am a man who stood for what was right and still stands now. I am surmounting all. I am proud of my work, and the fields I’ve tilled. I am triumphant over the war and the blood shed. I Am Afraid.
