Grey

Grey

A Poem by i am a wanderess

neutral and indifferent
unemotional and uncommitted
the early morning fog
the sidewalk of a lonely road
the pebbles next to the throwing stones
the cement stairs beside a brand new elevator

unwanted and unimportant
inoffensively bland and disinterested
mostly grey comes to mind
not bright, nor bold,
nor dark, although cold
maybe too ordinary,
a little unremarkable,
an unexceptional commonplace

but the right eyes can see truth
beauty in the fog
and safety in the sidewalk
they find home in the pebbles
and excitement in colorless stairs

grey is shelter for the honest,

a home for the unwanted
it guards those too bright and too dark
it accepts both harmed or unharmed
it does not judge, nor take sides
it is detached, yet open minded

a commonplace for all,
it is a place for those to fall,
it welcomes with open arms,
anyone bright enough to see,
that we are different and the same
grey is both you and me

Grey is what grey is it is grey and without it there is no red white or blue well written!

I like the flow of thoughts leading to the every good ending.
"that we are different and the same
grey is both you and me"
The above lines are logical and true. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.

I like that this equates what is common and ignorable in life as grey. While the grey is everywhere, so bland and everyday as to be discounted and forgotten by the end it is background that supports the flashy and demure alike. The grey is the nothingness behind everything.
