One Day

One Day

A Poem by i am a wanderess

I like to think one day it will all be okay again
I like to think one day I'll be sitting in a restaurant with you smiling and laughing
I like to think one day I'll no longer care about numbers or judgements
I like to think one day I'll be able to go to bed before the sun comes up and as I fall asleep I'll be smiling instead of crying and the last thing on my mind will be you instead of death because with your arms wrapped around me I'll feel safe and content and that will be enough
I like to think one day all the dominos will turn to trees made of steel so not even the toughest axe can knock them down
I like to think one day my nose will stop growing because I will no longer have to lie to the people I love most
I like to think one day the paintings will be real and I can still call them art and they will be even more beautiful than before
I like to think one day the pain will end and I won’t have to focus on the pressure to keep from crying
I like to think one day you will hold me so tight that all the obstructions left in my pocket will turn to dust to be blown away by each sigh of relief
I like to think one day I'll stop tying my hands behind my back
I like to think one day my health will become more important than the voices in my head
I like to think one day it will be raining but I won’t have to dry my cheeks
I like to think one day I'll be happy
maybe not today, but one day

The repetition I feel did not help this poem. Repetition can be tool that's more useful if the rhythmic "beats" of the poem were more consistent. It's obvious that the feelings you put into this work are sincere, but as I reader I felt that the repetition distracted from that. It shows promise though.

I like the simplicity of it but it has depth at the same time. Many people can relate to it as well. Continue writing Wanderess

There are poems that are Utopian pipe-dreams and then there are personal pleas (if we overlook the *steel - not *steal, trees) to the Universe for it's help to just belong. This is one of the latter.
I think we can all relate to this poem because we have all felt this way at some time in our lives.
It had shades of John Lennon's 'Imagine', for me.
Anything that recalls Lennon is good in my book.
Pleased to meet you Wanderess.

I liked the thoughts and the repetition. You took the reader on a journey of thoughts and hope. The poem had a understanding for the most of us. Searching for proper place and happiness. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.
