Child Abuse

Child Abuse

A Chapter by Butterfly
"

Introduction of the book, "To Cripple a Butterfly". Identifying with child abuse and its aftermath.

"
Every ten seconds, a report of child abuse is made,
numbering over three million in the US each year
(Childhelp, 2010). Child abuse is nondiscriminatory,
as it knows no race, culture, or religious background. So, raising awareness all around the world is not only necessary, but vital for survival of the many children
who fall victim to it every day.

To aid in this awareness, I decided to share my
story. I want others to know that abuse is real, and the
devastation that it causes can last a lifetime. I want to
inspire those who share my story to be over comers,
defeat that which may have crippled them, and learn
to live rather than simply exist.

The life of a butterfly from larva to the cocoon is a
very unique transformation. In order to fully prepare
for flight, the butterfly must complete each phase of
development. It can take months before a butterfly
is ready to break free and take the journey of life. If
the butterfly does not fully experience each stage of
development, it will cause a crippling effect, and the
butterfly will not be able to complete its course of
flight as intended.

As with the butterfly’s stages of development, we
too go through such stages in our lives. It begins with
conception and progresses through infancy, adolescence,
and adulthood.

Each stage of our development is as important as the butterfly’s.
We must experience the highest level of maturity within each stage, thus
allowing us to move to the next in the healthiest form.
If not, we too will experience a crippling effect.

However, unlike the butterfly, we have the ability
to recover from the thing which wounded us may
have caused us to fall. We have the power to turn evil
into good, negative into positive. This is a gift that
can only be bestowed upon us by God. It is one of
the things that make us human, the power of free
will. Over the course of time, I learned how to utilize
this gift, and as you read my life’s journey, you will be
overtaken by its power.

I am starting to love this book. I was really inspired of the book's introduction about the butterfly and the child.

For me, as long as there is physical violence whether it is punishment as a form of child discipline, I consider it as child abuse. Children must be loved and nurtured to be a good citizen and to be a good person as a whole but when abuse is present in the house and they are the victims, it seems a serious trouble to face for. The story of a daughter that has been beated of his father by forcing her to fight him which I read from this article Medieval hobbyist forces daughter to fight him with a wooden sword is one of the physical violence that I wanted to reiterate too. Indeed, violence in children is very drastic that's why we need to act for us to help them and save them.
