A poem depicting my life's journey and coming into the realization of who I am, my self worth during the most difficult time of my life.

I See Me!

Little girl, filled with life’s mysteries

Curious in every way, She had sad days

But mom was there to comfort her through them all

Growing up with the world to conquer, day to day became a wonder

To lose someone so special, an irreplaceable momma

She only wished to be able to touch or smell her protective scent

Knowing it meant she was loved, by momma

Finding guidance and direction from the church, but the pain still was such and too much!  Finding herself crying often and asking why, why me, Lord?

What did we do wrong?

Me, sister, brother to lose someone with such earthly importance

She searched within trying to survive this fate, but often carrying hate

Yet so innocent

She fell for someone who’s tainted

Tainted with the streets running deep, deep to every heart beat

She gives birth to his love child, she keeps her straight

Gives her the desire to press on and be great!

Stretch her hands to a man, she thee wed

Fell into the bed of infidelity and subjected to his cruelty

He’s stumping her, hurting her within

Lord forgive her of this sin

The sin that’s delivered her to this pain, it’s driving her insane

You’re nothing, you’re nobody she hears his voice, oh God I have no choice

But to stay, she continues to pray

Save me, he’s delivered from me

I just want to be free, free and learn I to fly again

I want to win, says she!

Oh joyous days have arrived

For I know how to survive And I am yet alive!

Tender joy I see in thee

You my friend, my love could have only come from above!

I see me in thee, you know me?

Have we met before, maybe at the corner store?

No, you’re the angel I’ve seen from someplace I’ve been

In a dream you helped take the pain away and now you’re here, here to stay
