Retention

A Poem by Riley

Every single word
is now a laser

a harsh, cutting reminder
of everything you have caused.

the orbs I once fell in love with
are now empty sockets, a hellish soul

I can not bare to look at you
because you know you're guilty

and yet you smile,
and laugh as if it's okay

as if what you did was okay
as if any word you said, loving

or manipulating
was okay

It is branded in my brain;
where it will stay.

I was your property
you were the master of puppetry.
