King of Hearts

King of Hearts

A Poem by Riley

If I eat some cake,
will I grow to size?

If I drink from your vial,
will it be all that lies?

A tiny little door,
a trap, a ploy

Little pitter patters
from footsteps of toys

If I let you in,
will you flee and hide?

Or will you find comfort,
where you soon reside

Secrets best kept shut
lies kept away

Don't you know, my king of hearts,
I yearn for those who stay
