DistractionA Poem by Riley

I write the truth Be it cold as stone, or harsh as steel. Why must we use technology? Innovative, convenience at our fingers This is true. Teachers and guardians, attempting to improve this nation Hold on, I just got a snap notification. Respect eliminated for our elders We rely on Facebook as our tellers Words from the mouth of the wise Most will deny and despise Millions depressed Thousands taking lives When will we wake up, and realize. False confidence, False hope, Hey, you got some dope? Empty hearts, full of lust and selfishness feed off of the unsuspected What went wrong, where men depend on a woman's body, rather than the soul and mind? It's disgusting how we treat others, bullying, depressed kids reaching out school systems do nothing, and what will happen? Another sad headline When will it stop? When will it end? Years pushed to the edge Thirteen year old girls look 21 Shaking their hips and undeveloped backsides Seeming that's all they have to offer, rather than some intelligence. When will we do something? The answer is It's too late.
