WorshipA Story by WaleluSometimes, it's not what you think it is.It’s not something I ever truly thought about before. Worship and interest were always two completely different
things. In my mind, there was no connection anywhere. Until a man who used to be an atheist told me, He used to worship celebrities. My mind hit a blank. What- how, is that even possible? They’re human. We’re in the modern age, we’ve passed the
times of worshipping kings and pharos. We don’t worship people. But you see, That’s where I, And so many others, Are wrong. But what about it being
celebrities? Why? How was that even a thing he did? But he explained it. And I understood. You can’t worship something
without an interest in it. It’s the amount of interest you
have to be wary of. There is interest, there is a lot
of interest, there is spending way too much of your time on that interest. The last one, is worship. I never understood. It’s not something I ever thought
about. Until I applied it to my life. You claim to worship a God. But how much time do you spend
thinking about him? How much time do you spend devoted
wholly and completely to him? How can I do that? You must
wonder, after all, surely you have other interests. How to Train Your Dragon. Pokemon.
Harry Potter. Fairy Tail. Death Note. Dogs. Cats. Hiking. Reading. Writing. Food.
Water. Living. You have so many interests, so
many concerns. Ranging from necessity, to non-necessity. But then you go and divulge
yourself in your concerns. You find yourself in the pit of
people who think their lives are suddenly complete because their “OTP” kissed
in a recent episode of their favorite TV show. Their lives are complete. What a sad existence they had. After all, all their lives
amounted to, was worshiping a fictional couple. But we’re all guilty of some form
of this. It creeps up on you silently,
pouncing on you at the moment you least expect it. Engulfing you to the point
that you are no longer aware of your engulfment. So, the next time you say, I only worship God, Think about it. Where do most of your thoughts
spend their time? © 2017 WaleluAuthor's Note
