Brothers DuetA Poem by wakingmaverickIt's about the suicide of a brother. Suddenness met with disbelief, followed by agony, turning into hope.Brothers Duet Remember when we used to run Like unchained dogs towards the sun A bond to last till our last breath Stormed the unknown, we feared no death You, my compass, you guided me right Once I was lost in the darkest night I would be there to reach out my hand Fallen you I would help you stand Together we’d be, the path bright and clear Taken for granted you’d always be near Yet inconceivable truth would be on its way Soon to come to steal you away Haven't I seen you just a moment before Looked again you weren’t there no more Deceive me again my foolish eyes I will not fall for your vapid lies Sooner or later will you reappear ‘I never left, I was always here’ A puerile jest but no harm done Back you will be with me to run You've been gone for a little too long It dawned on me that something was wrong Closed my eyes as, was doubting my sight Once open again, the day had turned night My heart erupted the chest was burning To hear your voice I begged I was yearning All the trees they lied to be you The one I missed, this could not be true Turned every stone that lay on the ground Search after search you couldn’t be found And then it fell, the final curtain The hours turned doubtful to terribly certain How could this be, was I ever so blind Not to notice your troubled young mind How oblivious and vain must I've been Neglecting the needs of my blood brother kin The guilt devours what's left behind Unforgiving is time I cannot rewind Day after day, I am longing to see Aching to know, where you just might be Till I die will I ask myself Why? How could you leave without a goodbye If you were, right here with me Laughing, you’d say 'Live your life, let it be' Tortured love, please heal, be brave Past is past, don’t take it to grave Run, be wild and seize the day Make him proud, don't waste your stay Wait for me me my dear little brother I will join you, not this day, but another Till death comes, I shall not forget Will always remember, our brothers duet © 2014 wakingmaverickAuthor's Note
