Zombies'n'S**t Ep. 44A Chapter by wagonburnerThat is the Last Time I Share Information With You
Sophia slowly stood, as if she was worried that any sudden movements would send me into a rage or I would fall over and shatter. I glared at the floor as she moved around, gathering a few things.
"What now?" I called to her. "You have me in your clutches. Do you want me to follow you like a little puppy? Or am I free to go?" She was silent for a few seconds before she walked straight to me and knelt next to me. She took a deep breath (which made it damn difficult to not stare at her chest-d****t John, focus!) and spoke in a flat tone, "You can leave whenever you want. I will not try to stop you." He voice softened, "But I would rather we traveled together. At least for a little bit. I'm more than a little lost and have no food or water. Completely surrounded by hostile creatures-" I scoffed, interrupting her, "I note you carefully avoided calling us monsters." When I looked up at her, she was frowning at me. "I don't think you're monsters. Not anymore. You really opened my eyes to how you and your kind think." She shrugged and lightly punched me in the arm, "Besides, you're more of a punching bag than a monster." I rubbed my arm and scowled ferociously. She just laughed at me. I mean, Christ. She just laughed at me. She wasn't at all worried about me. What was with this woman? Her smile faded as she said, "Like I was saying, If you want to leave, you can. But I want you to know, you are the closest thing I have to a friend." Stab, twist. I grimaced and looked at my hands, suddenly uncomfortable. I mean, how do you respond to that? She continued, "If anything, I don't really want to go back. I want to know if I can go with you?" My head snapped up at that. What she was asking was- well, was insane. "I don't think that is wise, " I hedged. She raised an eyebrow in askance. I shook my head and spoke as intently as I could, "It's not that I am embarrassed or anything." Which was a lie, I was. "But I can't expose the others to the danger you pose." She bristled, "Are you still worried I'm going to kill you? Kill your people?" I waved a hand, "It's not that. There is a rule that all of us know, regarding you Normies. We can never expose ourselves to you. We have to act like how you usually see us. Or else..." I trailed off. She settled back down and asked, "Or else what?" I sighed, "I don't know. Nobody does. We just know it'll be something bad that we can't avoid." She frowned thoughtfully, "How do you know this? How do you know anything will happen at all? I mean, you exposed yourself to me, yet nothing has happened?" I thought about that for a second. "I don't know. We just know it." She tapped her chin and asked, "Do you think that what happened earlier, you forgetting who I am, is related to that?" I was about to deny it out of hand but stopped myself. It could be just that. Or was it just my personal memory issues? I shook my head vigorously, "I don't know." She grinned at me, "You don't know a whole lot." I glared at her, "Your not helping, toots." She let out a peal of hearty laughter and got back to her bustling, "Toots! Ha!" Why did she think that was funny? © 2016 wagonburner |
