Exaggerate Much?

When I came to, the first thing I noticed was that an aircraft carrier was trying to saw into my skull.  The next thing I noticed was that a voice was shouting through a megaphone hooked up to about thirty speakers all around me.  It was so painfully loud, I couldn't understand a word.  I tried opening my eyes to see who was trying to kill me.  When I did, someone stabbed my eyes with a molten spear.  I gave that attempt up real quick.

"Mrflglumph," I groaned, turning my head away.  The demonic bellow started again and I cringed away.  Before long, the voice resolved itself into a mere agony as the words became intelligible.  "John?  Can you hear me?"  I groaned and swiped weakly at empty air, "God, yes.  Now stop yelling."  The voice roared back, "I'm not yelling, John.  I'm whispering."

I tried opening my eyes again and was only stabbed with a lukewarm needle.  I stared up at a blurry shape.  Once my eyes focused, I saw that nobody had spears or megaphones or speakers or needles.  Weird.

I was finally able to make out Sophia.  She was looking down at me with a concerned expression.  I blinked blearily up at her, "Ow."  She grinned at me, "If you're capable of complaining, you're fine."

I grimaced, "I sure as hell don't feel fine.  I feel like ten miles of bad road."

Sophia grinned wider, "If it makes you feel any better, you look like ten miles of bad road."  Her grin vanished, "But what was that earlier?  Why did you attack me?"  I looked up at her and looked quickly away.

I took a deep breath and said, "I have no idea."  She opened her mouth to speak, but I held up a hand to stop her, "Look, all I know is that when I saw you, I had no memories of you.  I went back to how I always act around Normies.  I have no idea why I didn't remember you, so don't ask."  She frowned but closed her mouth and sat back.

A disturbing thought occurred to me.  What if my memory was failing more than it already had?  What if this was just the beginning of my journey into madness and mindless killing?  I shuddered and desperately hoped that was not the case.

been reading the hell out of your take on zombies which is fun to think about when i'm reading along. he's waking up very painfully to Sophie and gathering his senses. It would be less confusing if he felt those things instead of noticed or plain waking to because it make me think that those things are literally there, which i knnow is somewhat of the point but to say i woke up to what felt like an airplane etc. is more easily digested especially involving the imagery you've laid out. otherwise hell i love this

Cool. I was a little worried about this. Not just because of that, but I was afraid I overdid it. .. read more
