Zombies'n'S**t Ep. 12A Chapter by wagonburnerPrisoner of SUCK
So I spent a good long while just looking at the pretty stars. Not sure how long I sat there, dazed, but when I regained my senses, I didn't hear anything downstairs. At one point, I saw a group of adults go back down the stairs. I sat there drooling as the adults comforted the children. One girl was sobbing softly into Dress Ladys' dress. What was she upset about? Petty sure that a*****e killed some of the maggots living on my brain. Poor little guys. What did they ever do to him? People, am I right?
After a few minutes the group came back with a few extras. I wasn't fully recovered from my ordeal, so I just sat content and listened to them talk. Well, and drooled a little. Y'know, to sell the image. Really. Stop looking at me like that. One of the new folks saw me and walked up to a lady and, in a strained voice, hissed, "What the hell are you thinking, Mary?!" She gestured angrily at me, "Keeping one of them here?! That is the stupidest thing you could do! We lost Carmen and the Presley twins when they got in, now Max tells me you want to keep this one chained up so you can study the damn thing? We already know everything we need to know about them! They want to eat us, so we have to kill them first!" I don't think I was going to like this lady. Mary held up a hand and spoke in a parental manner, "Francine, we don't understand them. That is why I told Max to tie it up. And I know my sister taught you to be more respectful to the wisdom of your elders. You may be my niece, but I will not have you speak to me that way." Huh. They were related? Eh. I didn't see the resemblance. "Wisdom?!" Francines' voice rose slightly, "This isn't wisdom, this is crazy! It could bring the rest down on us!" I was getting a little tired of being called it by this point. Mary put a finger up to her mouth, shushing her, "Keep your voice down! Did they clear downstairs?" Francine looked like she had a headache, "Yes," she sighed. "They are clearing out the first floor and are working to fortify it again. Are the kids okay?" Mary nodded, "Scared, but they are fine. Murphy was bit, though." There was a shocked pause, "What?!" Francine nearly shrieked. God damn. I was tempted to shush her! Her voice was way to shrill. She started again, quieter now that everyone shushed her, "How did that happen?" The Dress Lady, or I guess I should call her Murphy, spoke quietly from the wall, "It was that thing that bit me." She was pointing at me. I felt a little smug. At least until I realized everyone was staring at me. I didn't swallow nervously, I swear. Francine swore acidiclly, earning her a stern look from Mary. Jesus, was this lady raised by sailors? There were kids nearby. Time and place, Francine, time and place. "Watch your language! Were you raised by sailors?" Mary scolded. That's what I said! Francine rubbed her head as the a*****e who hit me, Max I think, stepped forward, "What are we going to do about Murphy? Can we amputate?" Mary shook her head, "I don't think so. Sam thinks it has already spread too far." Francine spoke, "Will we have to put her out of her misery? Or do we just leave her somewhere to just reanimate and become one of them?" Murphy joined in, "You know, I'm right here, right?" Hah! Join the club, Murph. These people had an almost giddy lack of consideration for others. Good luck getting any sympathy from them. Francine turned to Murphy, "Sorry. But we have to think of the safety of the children. What would you suggest?" Seppuku? "Can I just live what is left of my life among friends?" Damn. "After all, it takes a while for someone to change." True. For some it happens fast, within a few weeks if they are already sick. The majority of people take their sweet time with it. I heard of this one guy who lasted four months before he finally died. Not sure if that was true, though. He had been a lawyer after all. © 2016 wagonburnerAuthor's Note
