Undeserving (Makana's Song)

Undeserving (Makana's Song)

A Poem by M. Keala Milles, Jr.
"

My daughter was 2 days old. She started to sing when I started to play what became this song, which inspired her middle name: Makanamakamaeoleolani--Precious Gift of Heavenly Voice

"

VERSE 1:

There was a time,

when I’d forgotten about love
And all I remember, is how alone I seemed to be
Somehow I found,

a voice in my empty heart
Whose echo is familiar and makes this feel more like home to me

 CHORUS
I always knew that I believed in miracles but now I see
That nothing could prepare me for this
From unexpected tragedies, and all of my recoveries
I never knew such a precious gift
...and I’m Undeserving

VERSE 2

There have been nights

when I’d mistaken dreams for what some might call regrets
Never knowing the difference between grace and strife
I never had a reason

strong enough to prompt a change of heart
But every breath you take, moves me more than the lunar tides

BRIDGE
And you’ll never know, how a moment can feel like eternity
waiting for you
And I never knew I’d be worthy
to feel the way that I do...

CHORUS
I always knew that I believed in miracles, but now I see
That nothing could prepare me for this
Through unexpected tragedies and all of my recoveries
I never knew, such a precious gift
...and I’m Undeserving.
