A Day in Syria

A Day in Syria

A Poem by V.L.Mir
"

Stop these abominations!

"

Day's danger fluctuates down a grumpy sky

Did a doodle do, but all fiddles by

All them guns and all them knives

All them men shot men in fight

Dark red painted all of city's walls

He who shouts freedom, now there he crawls

Each kid wakes up and served to them

His arms and legs, our food to drool.

Herald the slaughter which lulls me to sleep

I praise these bullets, I honor this feat

One flicker, one tap, laid all black sheep

A kid to his Gods, I wish to repeat.

Strong use of description. Made me have visions of blood and struggle. I believe no honor in war. Just men and women dying hoping for a better world for their children. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.

This is a very striking piece. It seems as if every inch of this earth is embroiled in some kind of war. It's almost like the very instant mankind came into existance, war and violence came as well. If anyone thinks we are better than "animals" they are mistaken. We have never been better than them because we are nothing more than animals ourselves. Syria is a heartbreaking situation. To think of all the families and children that are fleeing because of the endless intense violence and how many countries (definitely including mine) aren't helping them, it's like we are traumatizing the victims again. The line "Each kid wakes up and served to them/His arms and legs..." was particularly striking and heartbreaking. Well done!

Thank you, Gaia.
Excellent imagery. War brings only horror and destruction to one and all.

That's true. There can never be winners in war.
