Hidden Danger

Hidden Danger

A Poem by Josh Clifton

Crouched beneath the high grass
A gleaming stare peers out
scanning the horizon
planning its move no doubt

In the distance a gazelle roams free
unaware of its impending danger
its every move through the field
gazed upon by a stranger

Anticipation builds
in the predator viewing its prey
he cannot take it any longer
before him sits a buffet

With a leap and a turn
the lion reveals his intent
the gazelle frozen in place
its feet poured in cement

With a ferocious chomp
its neck gushes red
once a vibrant being
now lays dead

This is so beautifully descriptive! I'm amazed at the vivid picture that came to life in my mind as I read your words. Very nicely written, it's awesome.

very well written and your use of imagery is simply amazing. I felt as if I was on location filming all of this very well put together.

Skillful use of suspense and describing a view of nature. I'm glad I came by . . .

I could see the lion in my mind... it reminded me of a youtube video I once watched about a lionhunt, which herded out a young wildebeast, and began trying to kill it, but then the whole pack came running back and chased the lions away.

Great imagery :)
