Blueprints

Blueprints

A Poem by Josh Clifton

Neat straight lines
Crossing paths at just the right spots
some things outlined in bold
while others are marked by dots

A door here, a ladder there
Or a pipe or even a sink
There are plenty of items to be found
Quite enough to make one think

A guide to use when the time does come
To build this buidling right
For if these plans are followed
what is created shall be quite a sight.

Perhaps a change or two must be made
Obviously quite understood
If this be the case it shall be done
Not could, nor should, but would

At last the final product
A magnificent design
A masterpiece of work
That started with a line

a relationship can also be started by a line....and eventually connecting dots and angles into a lasting love, built with strong foundation....nice allegory here.

Your title brought to mind a completely different kind of blueprint. When I went from working in a bank to working in a machine shop, it became necesary to read the prints. There was a silver lining, though, being able to read the blueprints made those damn instructions in sewing patterns a little easier to follow. I like the lines, the numbers and the symbols. I like being able to pull a print and identify a part or to be able to located where the part goes in a larger assembly. I like this.

"A masterpiece of work

Your last lines sum it all up so perfectly! The flow of rhyme in your poetry is flawless. I like the unique topic too. Lydia

This is awesome! I love the metaphor of the blueprint. How easily this can be applied to life and to so many other things as well. Lovely job.
