The Q Train

The Q Train

A Poem by Vanessa
"

Inspired by my commute to and from Manhattan over the Manhattan Bridge.

"

 From the belly of Manhattan,

I emerge.

She has spit me out.

On this train

each day.

The fate of a grape

I am not.

Instead

I am a seed

with a window seat.

On this train

each day.

Across the East River,

with the white sail boats below,

Brooklyn will catch me

in his mouth.

He savors me.

On this train

each day.

I am October and a poet. I'm tagged and bound . . . silent and secret but never a mouse. I can be forgiving and understanding yet misunderstood. I am becoming each day. I am Victorian, a nerd, .. more..
