Lock and KeyA Poem by ValerieThe lies we speak and the truths we keep. Image source: http://m.swp.nu/photography/treasure-chest-with-key-17623/
I could tell you lies and mask them as truths
And I would believe them too Because sometime in this lifetime masquerade I spoke every lie and kept every truth inside a chest Locked it And kept it at the very corner of my mind Where light barely shines Where butterflies and birds die once touched by the kiss of a ghost dweller Where nothing is everything and everything is just a word meaning nothing I keep keys inside my pocket all the time Keys to every lock inside a house that no longer feels like mine But there is one that does not fit anywhere Because it fits everywhere Masked house and masked I No longer can I recognize the truths and the lies © 2015 Valerie |
