Lock and Key

Lock and Key

A Poem by Valerie
"

The lies we speak and the truths we keep. Image source: http://m.swp.nu/photography/treasure-chest-with-key-17623/

"
I could tell you lies and mask them as truths
And I would believe them too
Because sometime in this lifetime masquerade
I spoke every lie and kept every truth inside a chest
Locked it
And kept it at the very corner of my mind
Where light barely shines
Where butterflies and birds die once touched by the kiss of a ghost dweller
Where nothing is everything and everything is just a word meaning nothing

I keep keys inside my pocket all the time
Keys to every lock inside a house that no longer feels like mine
But there is one that does not fit anywhere
Because it fits everywhere

Masked house and masked I
No longer can I recognize the truths and the lies

Beautiful poem. And yet both sad and tragic at the same time. It speaks of sense of loss of self. But anyway, beautiful poem. Wonderfully done :)
