Teeth

Teeth

A Poem by Victoria Venable

Everything I say is through gritted teeth and clenched fists. My skin is holding the chaos in.

It wants to rip through the surface. It wants to tear me apart from the inside, out.

My mind turns everything off so I don't have to hear the kicking and screaming. My skin itches to set the insanity free.

I have to keep my mouth silent, I can only show them what they want to see, I have to keep fists tight. I can't show anyone.

My mask is beginning to peel. I want to feel release and relief.

All I want to feel is closure.

Darkness is inviting and warm.
