What is Creation?

What is Creation?

A Poem by Caleb Boese

Within the sewer, beneath the street,

Lies a creature odd,

With gelatinous spheres encased in a chalky structure,

Rubbery plastic coating, encasing the vile substances within,

It is bipedal, horrifying,

With matted fur that is concentrated in only some areas.

This creature at once stand, falling, only to

Survey his surrounds, and learn.

This creature convulses, and

Heaves over on the ground, vomiting.

This creature attempts standing, and

Is now on firm ground - upright.

This creature, using his knobbed appendages,

Opens a grate on the ceiling, and views the above world.

This creature, invaded by presences that comes from the outside,

And within.

This creature divides, painfully, in two,

And becomes something more.

And then it rests.

Interesting, disturbing, Kafka-esque...I like it a lot. Great poem!

That is a... disturbing but accurate view of human kind.
I love the title and what it means to the poem the most, as weird as that is.
The last line was very memorable. It stands out and remains in my mind.
